Tradition, Toxic Masculinity, and The Queer Community

Many LGBTQ+ folks have been the targets of the modeling and messaging that supports toxic and traditional masculinity and the heteronomative patriarchy. Queer folks have lived in fear and some have paid a hard price due to these limiting, exclusive ways of thinking. We will talk about the effects on the queer community and the importance of us being involved in the dismantling of these oppressive systems. We also need our voices at the table in the rebuilding of gender systems that allow inclusion and support the spectrum of gender and sexuality. In this workshop we will look within to see how much of this traditional messaging we carry with us and sometimes unconsciously perpetuate. We will work on how to heal, ways to convey a message of inclusivity, and how we can all grow and move forward in a healthier way.
